Vapes/e-cigarettes
There has been an increase in the number of young people who are choosing to vape. Often the marketing for vapes/e-cigarettes seems to be directed at young people. Vapes/e-cigarettes are often brightly coloured, disposable, and come in a variety of flavours (like sweets) that young people would find appealing.
As a parent/carer this will be a worrying trend. You can access more information by clicking on the image below:
Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing
It has been established that young people in the UK have higher mental health and emotional wellbeing needs than ever.
Some statistics obtained from the Mental health Foundation:
20% of young people may experience a mental health problem in any given year.
50% of mental health problems have been established by age 14 and 75% by age 24
10% of young people (aged 5 to 16 years) have been clinically diagnosed with a mental health problem but 70% of these young people ave not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age.
